SmartCAM V19.0: Extended Container Support

Container support has been extended to allow mesh geometry, text and dimension functions to be created in containers which can be recalled, modified, and regenerated using new parameters.

Create Mesh Geometry in Regenerable Containers - V19.0

All of the Mesh geometry creation methods now allow the mesh to be created as a regenerable Container. When the Insert Bar - Insert in Container option is turned on, the multiple mesh passes that would otherwise be created are placed into a single container element, and the panel parameters used to create the mesh stored with the container. The container element is identified as "Mesh" in the list view and the tool tip pop-up shows the mesh type.

When a mesh is created as a container, changes to the mesh such as Path Direction, Cut Spacing, and Finish Allowance can be made at any time by simply modifying the container element, recalling the mesh panel and parameters, and then making the changes and regenerating the mesh.

Create Machinable Text in Regenerable Containers - V19.0

Machinable arc/line Text geometry can now be created as a regenerable Container. When the Insert Bar - Insert in Container option is turned on, the multiple elements that would otherwise be created to represent the text are placed into a single container element and the panel parameters used to create the text are stored with the container. The container element is identified as "Geometry" in the list view and the tool tip pop-up text shows that it is Text.

When machinable text is created as a container, changes to the text such as Font type, Height and Start Position can be made at any time by simply modifying the container element, recalling the text panel and parameters, and then making the changes and regenerating the text.

Create Dimensions in Regenerable Containers - V19.0

Dimension Text and Linear Dimensions can now be created as regenerable Containers. When the Insert Bar - Insert in Container option is turned on, the multiple elements that would otherwise be created to represent the dimension text, leader lines, and arrow heads are placed into a single container element, and the panel parameters used to create the dimension are stored with the container. The container element is identified as "Dimension" in the list view and the tool tip pop-up text shows the dimension type.

When dimensions are created as containers, changes to the dimension such as Font type, Text, Height and Location can be made at any time by simply modifying the container element, recalling the dimension panel and parameters, and then making the changes and regenerating the dimension.

Order Path Tools Available for Container Elements - V19.0

Several Order Path geometry functions can now be used on container elements:

Rev Order - reverses the direction and/or order of the geometry in a single container, or reverses the order of a set of containers in the active group.

Chain - chains the geometry in a single container, or the geometry in a set of containers in the active group.

Group Dir - applies the selected winding direction to the geometry in containers in the active group.

Optimize - optimizes the geometry in a single container, or optimizes a set of containers in the active group.

This new capability provides more flexibility in the use of containers, and eliminates the need to unpack and repack the container in order to manipulate the content. It is particularly useful for optimizing containers resulting from toolpath generation processes.
