SmartCAM Advanced Turning

SmartCAM Advanced Turning™ software creates efficient toolpath and CNC code for 2-through 6-axis lathes and mill/turn centers. Like all SmartCAM™ applications, it is designed to help you reduce your programming time and deliver your customer's parts quicker.

Supports a Broad Range of Machines

  • 2-Axis
  • 4-Axis
  • Live Tooling

Shorten Part Delivery Times
SmartCAM Production Turning provides comprehensive solutions that help you get jobs done faster and shorten part delivery times, including:

  • Fast, flexible toolpath geometry
  • Automatic roughing routines for linear, contour, and groove roughing.
  • Comprehensive threading support for inside and outside diameter, left- or right-hand, and straight or tapered threads.
  • Better organize your data using Containers, Show/Hide, improved Layer functions and View Filters.
  • Intelligent drilling cycles that create code or canned cycle output for drilling, tapping, boring or counterboring operations with minimum input.

Simplifies 4-Axis Turning

  • Automatically synchronizes tool motion for both turrets, yet lets you control timing.
  • Shows you merged tool motion as it will occur at the machine with feed rates represented in correct relation to one another.
  • Automatically creates balanced or pinch turning operations from a single profile and synchronizes tool motion.

Combine Mill/Turn Operations in a Single Model

  • Solid Model Pocket Roughing - Create milling pocket roughing toolpath on solids containing prismatic features.
  • Solid Model Profile Finishing - Create finish and multi-pass, semi-finishing milling toolpath from solids containing prismatic features.
  • Integrate C-axis operations with turning functions in a single machining model.
  • Support radial and axial live tool orientations, and Y-axis motion.
  • Support a full range of milling operations including milling, off-center and cross drilling, tapping, slotting, pocketing, and facing.

Save Time and Money

Better Organize your data using Containers, Show/Hide, improved Layer functions and View Filters.

Subroutine Support saves you time on repetitive shapes and operations.

Automatic Toolpath Optimization sorts through toolpath solutions to find the shortest machine cycle time.

Macro Productivity Tools automate commonly used machining functions to make your work faster and easier.

Eliminate Surprises

The new SmartCAM verification module provides state-of-the-art verificaiton of your models and toolpath programs.

Knowledge Based Machining Library: Capture Your Manufacturing Expertise

The SmartCAM Knowledge Based Machining (KBM) Library is a user-managed repository designed to store best practices. Tooling, process parameters and CNC programming steps are retrieved as required for programming tasks.

It is a component that helps a manufacturing facility using SmartCAM to ensure that preferred tooling, speeds & feeds and process settings can be adhered to and that standardized, repeatable methods are used by the CAM engineering group.

CAD Formats Supported

Import, export, display, and machine from solid, surface or wireframe CAD data using SAT, STEP, IGES, DXF or DWG formats. SmartCAM files may also be exported as STL surfaces.

Optional Native Data Translators

Additionally, individual native data translators are available for purchase that read SOLIDWORKS® .SLDPRT, Autodesk® Inventor® .IPT files, Solid Edge® .PAR and .PSM part files and ProE®/CREO® .PRT, .PRT. and .XPR files.

The SmartCAM Difference: Toolpath Modeling and Editing

Every CAD/CAM Software system allows you to import CAD data, draw geometry and create automated toolpath operations, and of course SmartCAM can do that as well. But what if you need to:

  • Edit Resulting Toolpath?
  • Change CAD geometry into Toolpath geometry?
  • Reorder the toolpath?
  • Resequence the toolpath?
  • Mix automated processes that need some editing?
  • Automate and customize your interface with macros?
  • Make changes to your post processor?

With SmartCAM Toolpath Modeling, all toolpath elements are treated as geometry, whether created manually or with SmartCAM's robust, automated toolpath creation tools, allowing complete manipulation in just the same way as model geometry elements. That's the SmartCAM Difference.
