Patrick Engel Tapped to Lead Architecture Development
August 24, 2004 - Eugene Oregon -
SmartCAMcnc, exclusive developers of SmartCAM, announced today that
Patrick Engel has been named Senior Architect for the software company.
Engel will manage the company's suite of computer-aided
manufacturing (CAM) software as the company reintroduces SmartCAM to the
manufacturing industry.
He joins SmartCAMcnc with 22 years experience developing CNC (computer
numeric control) manufacturing software including seven years leading the
Point Control / CAMAX / SDRC architecture development group.
"Patrick fills a critical need for our architecture development team.
There may be no greater authority on the strengths of the current
SmartCAM construction; there is no one I would prefer to see lead our
efforts to build on those strengths with the forthcoming releases of
SmartCAM,” said Gregg Olson, president and founder of SmartCAMcnc. "With
his impressive background in CNC and CAM development, Patrick is better
suited for guiding the future design of SmartCAM than anyone I can think
of. He is a serious talent and an extremely important hire for us."
Engel has previously held senior research engineering positions at
Battelle Memorial Institute where he oversaw the complete redesign of
the surface machining module, CNC code generation module and general post
processor; and at D.P. Technologies where he designed and implemented the
custom post processing software for the Esprit computer-aided
manufacturing product line.
