SmartCAM V15 System Requirements
System requirements for SmartCAM V15 have not changed from SmartCAM V14 which added the ACIS® solid-modeling kernel to all applications and OpenGL graphics in the main graphics window, additions that provide solid model import, export and display capability. The system requirements for SmartCAM V15 applications have been upgraded in support of those enhancements.
SmartCAM users updating from SmartCAM V13 or earlier applications should compare their current systems to the current v15 system requirements and make any necessary changes prior to installation.
Operating System
SmartCAM is supported on the following operating systems.
- Microsoft Windows Vista® Business
- Microsoft Windows XP® Professional
- Microsoft Windows 2000®
Microsoft Windows Vista Business & Hardware Requirements
SmartCAM v15 applications are compatible with the Microsoft Windows Vista Business operating system. To get the best performance from SmartCAM on Windows Vista Business it is highly recommended that you meet or exceed Microsoft's recommended hardware requirements for the Windows Vista Business operating system.
Other Operating Systems
SmartCAMcnc does not support SmartCAM running on other operating systems, and cannot provide assistance to customers using SmartCAM on other operating systems.
Processor (CPU)
Recommended: Intel Pentium® IV or AMD Athlon® XP, Intel DuelCore or higher
Minimum: Intel Pentium® IV or AMD Athlon® XP
Physical RAM
Recommended: 2 GB or greater
Minimum: 128 Mb
Hard Disk Space
SmartCAM: 30MB for installation.
Note: data files require 0.5-5 Mb storage space.
Predator CNC Editor for SmartCAM: 90MB
Video Card
Recommended: 1280x1024 display resolution with True Color, 256MB display RAM; hardware-accelerated OpenGL v1.2 (or higher)
Minimum: 1024x768 display resolution with True Color, 32MB display RAM; hardware-accelerated OpenGL v1.2 (or higher)
Note: Problems have been reported running SmartCAM using some motherboard embedded video chipsets. A separate video adapter is recommended.
Network Card
A Network Interface Card (a.k.a. Ethernet or NIC card) or motherboard embedded with NIC is required. The Ethernet network card is used with SmartCAM software licensing.
The network card does not need to be attached to a network, but it must be enabled and active. Please read the SmartCAM Technical Bulletin #208 found at: http://www.SmartCAMcnc.com/ts_tnote208.asp
Note: Problems have been reported running SmartCAM using some motherboard embedded Ethernet chipsets. A separate Ethernet adapter is recommended.
