SmartCAM V16 Data Translation Improvements
Integrated Data Translator - New in V16.0, Updated in V16.5
A new integrated data translator will be replacing the previous separate CAM Connection install. CAD files can now be opened using the File, Open and File, Merge, and exported using the File, Save As .

STL Import & Export - New is V16.5
STL models can now be imported directly, and will be displayed as a faceted, solid model. Faceted models are not machinable, but can be used to represent stock, fixturing or void geometry during verification.

STEP Format - New in V16.0
Standard translation capabilities now include SAT format STEP format for wireframe, and surface/solid data.

Native-file SolidWorks® 2009 and Autodesk® Inventor® 2010 Translators - New in V16.0, Updated in V16.5
Two optional data translation products are available for purchase. SmartCAM SolidWorks Connection™ is an integrated data translation tool imports geometry from SolidWorks native .SLDPRT files, up through SolidWorks 2009.
SmartCAM Inventor Connection™ imports geometry from Autodesk Inventor native .IPT files, up through SolidWorks 2010.
These new translation modules provide accurate native data translation through the SmartCAM file open and merge menus.
