SmartCAM users updating from earlier version of SmartCAM applications should compare their current systems
to the v2014 system requirements and make any necessary changes prior to installation.
SmartCAM is supported on the following 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems.
- Microsoft® Windows 8® Professional (Note: runs as a desktop application, not as a Windows 8 Metro application)
- Microsoft® Windows 7® Professional
- Microsoft® Windows Vista® Business
- Microsoft® Windows XP® Professional
NOTE: With the release of SmartCAM v2015 in Fall 2014, SmartCAMcnc will no longer support Microsoft XP
SmartCAM SOLIDWORKS® Connection™
The SmartCAM SOLIDWORKS Connection v2014 SP1 native data translator is not supported on Microsoft Windows XP.
Microsoft Windows Vista Business\Windows 7 Professional & Hardware Requirements
SmartCAM v2014 applications are compatible with the Microsoft Windows Vista Business and Windows 7 Professional
operating systems. To get the best performance from SmartCAM, it is highly recommended that you meet or exceed
Microsoft's recommended hardware requirements for the given operating system.
Other Operating Systems
SmartCAMcnc does not support SmartCAM running on other operating systems, and cannot provide assistance to customers
using SmartCAM on other operating systems.
Remote access to SmartCAM is not available on multi-user operating systems, such as Windows Server 2003. On single-user
operating systems, such as XP or Vista, SmartCAM can be run remotely using Windows Remote Desktop. Windows Terminal
Services are not supported; nor is Remote Desktop on multi-user servers as it based on Terminal Services.

Note: Problems have been reported running SmartCAM using some motherboard embedded
video chipsets. A separate video adapter is recommended.
A Network Interface Card (aka, Ethernet or NIC card) or motherboard embedded with NIC is required.
The Ethernet network card is used with SmartCAM software licensing.
The network card does not need to be attached to a network, but it must be enabled and active.
