After updating to SmartCAM v2017, you start getting very frequent Application Not Responding issues. This appears to be mainly an issue on Windows 10.

This appears to be related to a recent Microsoft Security update patch. Uninstalling the patch and blocking it from being reinstalled resolves the issue.

The issue is related to the automatic security update KB4013429. Use the Programs and Features control panel and remove the update. Click on the "View installed updates" option on the left sidebar to see the updates.

To keep the update from being reinstalled, the next time Windows update runs, use the Microsoft provided tool and hide the update from Windows Update.
